NEWS & OPINION 48 EWAP DECEMBER 2021 ASCRS Journal Club은 또한 본 연구에 사용된 이동형 LAF후드에 대해서도 이야기 나누었다. 패널들 중 어느 누구도 이 LAF 후드를 사용해보지 않았다. 그러나 모두 안전하고 효율적인 수술방 공조시스템이 단지 COVID-19뿐아니라 세균이나 바이러스 감염을 방지하기에 필수적이라고 동의했다. 안과의사들이 이전처럼 모든 수술들을 다시 재개함에 따라, COVID-19 판데믹은 진료패턴, 수술관련 결정, 전반적인 안전 측면에 계속 영향을 끼치고 있다. 패널들은 얼마나 많은 환자들이 여전히 정규수술을 받기를 꺼려하고, 외래예약을 오기를 꺼려하는지에 대해서 논의했다. 그들은 본 연구의 결과가 유화술 도중에는 유의한 에어로졸 형성은 없다는 점을 본인, 직원, 환자들에게 모두 안심시켰다는 점에 동의했다. 우리는 COVID-19 백신의 등장이 환자의 안전측면에서 추가적인 도움을 주기를 바란다.
