Zoltan Nagy, MD (clinical professor of ophthalmology, Semmelweis Uni- versity, Budapest, Hungary)는레이저로 two-plane incision할 때(n=42)는 stromal hydration가 필요 없다는 사실을 발견 했다. 그러나 손으로 절개할 때(n=43)는 전체 중 90% 에서 stromal hydration 해야 했다. 전 세계에서 수집된 6,000건 이상의 LensSx 사례를 분석한 결과 손을 이용한 술식에서보다 레이저를 이용한 술식에서 보다 많은 환자가 보다 이른 시간에 술 후 20/20(6/6)에 도달했다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 술 후 1개월에 LenSx 시스템은 예측 가능성이 보다 높았으며 기존 난시가 78% 감소했다. 수술 유발 난시 역시 레이저 술식의 경우가 더 적었다. “따라서 궁극적으로 LRI와 toric calcuator 의 정확성이 향상될 것으로 보인다.”라고 그는 말했다. Victus Gerd Auffarth, MD (department of ophthalmology, University of Heidel- berg, Germany)는 레이저 장비가 유럽과 미국에서 승인을 취득하면 “백내장 술식 과 굴절 술식을 동시에 제공하는 최초의 플랫폼”이 될 것이라며 LASIK 절편을 형성 하거나 백내장술 뿐 아니라 각막이식술, 각막 교차 결합술, 난시 각막 절개술에 사용될 수 있을 것이라 강조했다. 뿐만 아니라 Victus 시스템 인터페이스에 곡률 이 있어 술자가 각막에 각막에 가하는 압력이 줄어들 수 있다고 덧붙였다. 그가 흑내장 및 갈색 백내장이 있는 7안(일부는 pseudoexfoliation 포함)을 대상으로 실시한 최초의 수술 결과는 20/20이었으며 낭파열은 관찰되지 않았다. Michael C. Knorz, MD (medical director, FreeVis LASIK Center, Mannheim, Germany)는 “또한 multifocal IOL은 0.5 D을 초과하는 난시를 견디지 못하기 때문에 레이저 시스템을 이용 하는 것이 손으로 하는 난시 교정보다 낫습니다. 단, 레이저를 조사할 때 동공의 크기가 충분히 커야 한다는 제약이 있을 뿐입니다.”라고 말했다.
