Ronald Yeoh, MD, Singapore, discussed the correction of corneal astigmatism using toric IOLs and provided surgical pearls for any toric IOL. “Inject the IOL aligning the axis 10 degrees shy, dial the IOL into the intended position, beware of over-rotation, and press the IOL onto the posterior capsule using the side port,” said Dr. Yeoh. The patient should also be counseled not to have sudden movements within the first hour and not to jog or rub their eyes for the following two weeks. Jae Bum Lee, MD, Korea, discussed the technology and experi- ence sharing with the CATALYS Precision Laser System. With an improved user software, a built-in Donnenfeld nomogram, and a toric axis marker on the cornea, CATALYS provides improved technology for cataract patients. Finally, through a case presentation, Jason Jones, MD, USA, showed the advantages of using the Veritas Vision System. The system provides features for fluidics improvement as well as an improved user experience. The Veritas now has new hybrid fluidics technology which provides chamber stability through a proprietary advanced tubing system and dual pump system, making it easier to provide the best possible care to patients. This symposium was hosted by EyeWorld Asia-Pacific and supported by an educational grant from Johnson & Johnson Vision.
